Postpartum Massage
The postpartum period is considered the first six weeks after delivery. Massage therapy during this time can speed healing and recovery as well as help the body re-adjust. Benefits include pain relief, hormone regulation, emotional support, re-strengthening overstretched muscles and assisting the uterus to contract back to it’s original size. As soon as the mother feels ready, she is able to receive postpartum massage. Regular bodywork can be done with adjustments being made for the mother’s comfort. Gentle abdominal work is included to assist with uterine contractions. In the event of a c-section, a doctor’s written release is recommended and no abdominal work will be done until fully healed. The mother is welcome to have her baby with her for the session.

Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain. A myofascial release session is generally used to target a specific problem area, often caused by injury, and includes a range of motion and postural assessment as well as a reassessment after the session.

Facial massage & gua sha
Facial massage, along with the use of jade and rose quartz stones to gently scrape the face, assists in draining lymph, decreasing tension and promoting collagen production and circulation. Facial gua sha is a form of gentle massage, adapted from traditional gua sha, and involves slow, steady strokes that help move blood, lymph and manipulate sub-dermal fascia. The results can immediately, and over time, create the appearance of lift, tone, clarity and brightness in the face. Many people hold tension in their jaw or forehead and this can often translate into the neck and shoulders. Facial massage, along with gua sha, hot towels, organic oils and aromatherapy will immediately decrease tension in the whole body while leaving your face with a healthy glow! This is a perfect addition to a bodywork session while also being a great stand-alone treatment.
